The Umbrella That Flew to the Moon

In the small town of Breezyville, where the wind whistled lullabies and the trees danced every afternoon, lived a curious girl named Ellie. Ellie wasn’t like the other children—she had a big imagination and an even bigger collection of umbrellas.

One day, while rummaging through her grandmother’s attic, Ellie found an old umbrella with silver stars on its fabric and a carved wooden handle shaped like a crescent moon.

As soon as she opened it—WHOOSH!—a sudden gust of wind burst through the window, and Ellie was lifted off her feet!

Up, up, up she soared—past rooftops, above clouds, through flocks of giggling geese—until she found herself floating in space.

And there, just ahead, was the Moon.

When Ellie landed gently on its glowing surface, she was greeted by Moon Mice wearing shiny boots and helmets. “Welcome, Earth Girl!” they squeaked. “We’ve been waiting for someone with a magical umbrella!”

Ellie joined them for a moonwalk dance, sipped stardust tea, and even helped fix their crater carousel, which had been stuck spinning backwards.

After a night full of moonlight fun, the umbrella began to hum and tug gently. It was time to go home.

Ellie waved goodbye, floated back through the starry sky, and landed safely in her backyard, the umbrella folding itself with a soft snap.

From that day on, Ellie kept the silver umbrella by her bed—just in case the Moon ever needed her help again.

And sometimes, when the wind blew just right, she’d smile and whisper,

“Ready when you are.”
